THE CHALLENGE
Each year thousands of men, women, and children suffer life altering affects due to fire. Burns are one of the most severe injuries the human body can experience and still recover. While most people have a fascination with fire, young people lack the experience necessary to make appropriate decisions, and many adults are unaware of the full potential impact of fire, and how to prevent it. The key to a solution for this problem lies in linking the child and their family with the appropriate education and behavioral modifications.
THE MISSION
The Healing Education And Training program will provide positive solutions to reduce the injury, death, and property loss due to juvenile set fires as well as unsafe environments and practices.
THE MISSION OBJECTIVES
The HEAT TEAM will educate people of all ages on the dangers of fire, teaching them to take a personal responsibility for themselves, their families, their homes, and their surroundings:
By providing professional juvenile firesetter intervention services and resources for burn patients and their families. - By providing a comprehensive fire and life safety curriculum with age appropriate lessons and activities.
- By providing an informative, interactive, and dynamic website that provides proactive fire and life safety messages.
- By providing a mobile education display for use in educating the patients, their families, and the public on fire prevention, burn safety and rehabilitation in the Burn Center and at events and gatherings.
